Which Warranties are Best for the Customer?

In the service industry, warranties act as an insurance policy. They help a customer feel confident in their purchase knowing that if something goes wrong, their contractor is willing to take responsibility for their actions.

There are many types of warranties out there, so you need to make sure you do your homework. You don’t want to agree to a warranty with a contractor who you don’t believe will stand by their agreement. All inclusive warranties cover labor and materials. Other warranties may only cover labor or materials.

An “all-inclusive warranty” is the type of warranty that a customer should be offered. The reason being, your contractor needs to stand behind their product, which is the workmanship and the building materials installed.

If you decide to move forward with a contractor because of the warranty that they offer, you should always find out if they are a “Certified Installer” by the manufacturer of the product they are installing. Contractors who aren’t certified will have a more difficult time getting support from the manufacturer.

In the end, you need to know who’s taking responsibility and the quality of your contractor will make that apparent from the start. The strength of your warranty will only go as far as your faith in your contractor.
